Some jobs are one item that happens to weigh six hundred pounds - a piano, a gun safe, a stone table, the fridge that has to reach the basement. This page explains how these moves actually get done safely (it's technique, not testosterone), what makes them go wrong, and how to know when something genuinely can't be moved as-is. What makes a heavy move go right - or wrong
The difference between a clean heavy move and a gouged floor or cracked case is planning, not strength. What matters: measuring the full path before lifting, protecting floors and door frames, using the right dollies and straps for the weight and shape, and knowing when a door comes off its hinges or a piano's legs come off instead of forcing it. When we look at a job, we're reading the path as much as the item - which is why a photo of the stairs and doorways is as useful as a photo of the piano.
Heavy items we move
Pianos - uprights and baby grands (see piano moving); safes and gun safes (in, and the harder job, out); stone and marble tables and slabs; appliances up narrow stairs (see appliance removal); commercial gym equipment (see exercise equipment removal); hot tubs (see hot tub removal); and oversized antiques.
When something can't be moved as-is (and we'll tell you)
Sometimes the honest answer is "not up those stairs intact" - and a good crew says so before trying, not halfway up. We'll tell you when a piece needs disassembly, a different route, or a hoist, rather than gamble with your home or our backs. That honesty is cheaper than a repair.
How we price it
Photos of three things - the item, the path, and any stairs - are usually enough for a quote; genuinely tricky jobs get a quick look first. Simple defined moves are one fixed number; complicated multi-stage ones (disassembly, multiple flights, a ferry crossing) are hourly with a minimum, explained up front. Fully insured.
